Fort Worden Weekend- Museums

This is a typical child's room in the early 20th century. They spent most of their time in their rooms until they were about 5 years old. They slept, ate, played, studied, and recreated in their rooms. My how times have changed!

The sewing room. Aren't these pieces just lovely? I'll take the one in the middle, please!

Fort Worden Weekend- Fun

Here's Joseph learning how to make the fishing pond.

Daddy's close by to protect him from the hard road.

While we were at Fort Worden, Joseph learned two very important things: How to play Go Fish and how to ride a bike without training wheels. I recall learning how to ride a bike when I was much older- like 1st or 2nd grade. I think my son is totally gifted! It was almost immediate! Please don't call CPS on us for him not wearing any protective gear; we forgot to pack it and Joseph just couldn't resist his shiny bike and the wide, open riding space.

Fort Worden Weekend- Finding the Fort

Somewhere along the way we lost our way and ended up in the forest.

Isn't the view impressive?

This is part of the actual Fort.

If you look closely, you can see the deer we scared away with our loud voices.

We went on a hike which is very uncharacteristic of me. I actually abhor hiking or at least I used to. It was quite refreshing and the exercise felt awesome!

Yikes! Time to roll out!

Check out these Fallowing Deer! They're following us!

First (almost) Fish of the Season

"This is how you hold it."

"C'mon! Come here! You can do it!"

"Really! Come here!"

"Yay! I'm fishing!"

With our short attention span, we were off the dock and on the playground in no time.

Skipping rocks on the lake.

Like father, like son.

"I can throw rocks!"

Today Joey picked Joseph up early from school to take him to the lake by our house to go fishing. Joseph was so excited to go fishing when he got his Cars fishing pole from the store. I wanted them to use REAL worms but for some reason, Joey thought that the hot pink fish substance would appeal to the trout in the lake. Apparently, he was wrong. Perhaps next time he'll do better.

A Green Thumb Up

Today Joseph wanted to plant his seeds for our summer garden. If you recall last year Joseph and I planted peas and they went out of control. This year Joseph wanted to plant sunflower seeds, peppers, peas, and green onions. We got him little Diego gardening gloves and a watering can. He even used his John Deer tractor car to transport them from the driveway to the front door where they will be exposed to the sun. Today was a warm 72. In fact, it's almost 9pm and it's 65 degrees! I like the warmth but am looking forward to colder days ahead.

Mother's Day

No matter how many times I tell this young man not to walk on the slide... Boys will be boys!

It was such a warm and sunny day today- perfect for celebrating Mothers Day!

Joseph and Caspen

I just want to squeeze this kid because he's so cute!

Caspen and his super-cute Gymboree duds.

We had beautiful weather this week in Kitsap County. It's been so warm that I've had to use my car A/C a few times here and there. Today was no exception and we took full advantage of it. We parked at Shylo's house and walked over to the Mothers' Day Brunch at the Inside Out Cafe. The Maine FRG had an entire room set up for the occasion. The food was so ONO! There was even a chocolate fountain!

We walked back to Shylo's and hung out for a few hours watching movies and letting the kids play. We left in time to take Grandma to dinner at Silver City Brewery. We shared a salad and pizza and Joseph had his usual chicken dish. We all shared a slice of Red Velvet Cake to finish if off!

Joseph and I headed home and went right to bed. It was a great day!
