Mini Golf

Joe's last day before he went on patrol he got off work early and we took Joseph mini golfing (because he'd been begging for weeks). Jacob had NO idea what was going on. It was colder than anything but Joseph couldn't have had more pep in his step. A good memory of Dad before he left.

White Mess

A snowman decided to poop all over Western Washington last week. It was SOOOOO bad that school was closed Tuesday through Friday! That made for a VERY long break because Monday was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day so Joseph had essentially been out of school for 9 whole days! We were confined to our house Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday but Saturday we got out to attend our soccer game. Thank goodness because I was really going bananas locked up with two kiddos 24 hours a day! We couldn't go to the park or to the mall or the library... it was a challenge finding things to occupy our time. Needless to say, there was a lot of Mario Kart involved. At least the electricity didn't go out. I don't know what I would have done if that had happened!

Visit from the Tooth Fairy

Christmas Joy

One of Joseph's favorite gifts from Nana- a Martha Stewart cooking set! He always wants to cook with me and he also needs to satisfy his cub scout cooking requirement. This is the perfect gift!

Joseph-vision

By far his FAVORITE Christmas gift was Siddeley the Spy Jet.

Helping me bake cookies for the neighbors.

Future photographer? Who needs the top of my head?

Winter Fun

As soon as snow fell on the mountains Joe wanted to head out to go sledding with the kiddos. They had fun while Jacob and I snuggled up and waited in the car. They were out for about 4 hours or so! Every once in a while we'd get bundled up again and sit on the snow at the top of the hill and watch them go up and down. On the way home, we stopped at Sonic for a much needed meal. It was a nice taste of winter.

Big Kid

Tasha and I had both been trying to get pregnant at the same time. We joked months before our children were conceived that we'd be naked and pregnant in the heat of summer. Well, it happened! Topher here on the right was born on June 8th while Jacob was born on June 10! I took the room that she vacated hours after they left the hospital. This is a snap of them last night at Tasha's house. We didn't plan on them wearing the same colors or monkeys I think it was just some coincidence borne in the Carters factory. It's hard to believe that they're around the same age let alone that Jacob is actually YOUNGER than this other kid! Jacob looks at him like he's lunch!

Happy New Year!

Despite my resolution to submit at least one post a week, here I am January 15 beginning my first post of the year. I really should cease making resolutions... they're really silly and have a tendency to deflate my self-esteem.

Where to start...

Joe left for his fourth patrol. At least this one will be shorter than the last one and I don't have a newborn. Jacob has settled into a nice routine here at home and at daycare. He usually goes to bed around 6:00 to 6:30 and gets up once or twice a night. He goes to Grandmas during the week and stays home on the weekends with Joseph and I. He's a pretty big kid. Still 90th percentile in the weight and 95th percentile in height. He's more hesitant to smile than Joseph was but just as sweet.

Joseph is doing as well as ever. I couldn't be more pleased with his progress in school! He's so excited to go to school. He loves his teacher and his friends. He recently lost his two bottom teeth! His dentist predicted that he wouldn't lose any teeth until later this year but I guess he was wrong.

We have many plans during this patrol. Many trips to the library, Seattle Aquarium, Museum of Glass, the Y... Hopefully time will fly by quickly!

Other resolutions:
1. Get my MVPA three times a week
2. Read more fiction - I believe this was on my list last year
3. Try a new recipe every week

We'll see how these resolutions go...
